Mechanical weed control pays off
Times are changing – what was long known primarily as a weed control measure in organic farming has now become standard for every conventional arable farm. Herbicides are expensive and often no longer effective, prolonged dry spells or heavy rain cause soils to crust, diesel prices continue to rise, and the need for flexibility in weed control and crop care calls for a reliable range of crop care machines.
Better soil aeration
When weeding, the tines of the Tined Weeder AS penetrate a maximum of two to three centimetres into the soil to break up and crumble the top soil crust. This promotes better soil aeration and interrupts capillarity.
However, the main focus is on controlling unwanted weeds. As the tines sweep over the soil, weeds that are in the thread stage or already at the germination stage are pulled out and deposited on the soil surface. There they dry out and die off. This reduces around 90% of weed seedlings in the stand.
