Professional Grassland Care
Weeding, Reseeding, and Reconsolidation – in one pass with the APV Grassland Combi (GK)
The APV Grassland Combi (GK) combines the crucial work steps for successful grassland care in one coordinated system. Unevenness is leveled, matting and unwanted grasses are weeded out, seeds are precisely applied, and then reliably rolled.
Two methods are available for different swards and reseeding strategies:
The Grassland Combi (GK) applies the seeds broadly onto the prepared soil. This broadcast seeding is particularly suitable for regular grassland care, closing gaps, as well as reseeding and new seeding.
The Grassland Combi (GK S) places the seeds precisely in the soil with 24 slit coulters. Optionally, it combines slit seeding and broadcast seeding in one pass. For example, deep germinators can be precisely placed in the soil and light germinators applied superficially.

Choosing the right seeding technology
Broadcast seeding via dispersion plates for full-surface superficial placement or slit seeding via slit coulters for precise placement in the soil, or a combination of broadcast and slit seeding: you choose the method suitable for the sward, seeds, and application.
Broadcast seeding?
Slit seeding?
Or both combined?
Two seeding methods - One product family: The APV Grassland Combi (GK) is a versatile solution for reseeding, new seeding, and regular grassland care. Its design combines a height-adjustable, spring-loaded leveling bar, strong weeding tines, precise seeding technology, and a rear roller. For seeding technology, we distinguish between broadcast seeding via dispersion plates and slit seeding via slit coulters + furrow formers.

Broadcast Seeding (GK)

Slit Seeding (GK S)

Grassland Combi (GK) for Broadcast Seeding
1. Leveling
The height-adjustable, spring-loaded leveling bar removes molehills and major unevenness. This creates a more uniform meadow surface and relieves the subsequent tines.
2. Weeding and Aerating
Two rows of cranked tines open the sward. Strong 12 mm tines are used as standard, with 10 mm tines optionally available.
The tines:
- remove unwanted grasses and matting,
- aerate the sward,
- create open soil for reseeding,
- create a suitable seedbed.
3. Broadcast Seeding
The Pneumatic Seeder or Multi-Metering System distributes the seeds evenly via dispersion plates directly in front of the roller.
4. Rolling
The rear roller presses the seeds to the ground, closes cavities, and improves seed-to-soil contact.

More InformationLeveling Bar
The height-adjustable, spring-loaded leveling bar removes major unevenness in the grassland, thus preventing unnecessary stress on the tines.
The height adjustment is easily done with a crank. The leveling plate is fixed with two bolts.
Weeding Rows
The classic models feature two rows of cranked tines with a 12 mm Diameter. Optionally, 10 mm tines are available.
The cranked shape creates an elliptical movement on the ground:
- Steep tine position: smaller movement and more intensive cultivation
- Flat tine position: larger movement and gentler cultivation
Depth, pressure, and aggressiveness of both rows can be adjusted via hole pattern and bolt. The weeding rows can be adjusted independently.
Broadcast Seeding
The Grassland Combi was designed so that several models of APV Pneumatic Seeders as well as APV Multi-Metering Systems can be easily set up or pre-configured.
A seeding shaft pre-meters the seeds, the air blows them through the hoses onto the mounted dispersion plates, where they are distributed on the ground and immediately pressed down by the roller for even better seed-to-soil contact and thus increased germination capacity.
Grassland Roller
For the rear roller, you can choose between a Toothed Roller (prism roller) or a Cambridge Roller.
An overview of the roller models can be found here.
With the classic models, the position of the roller is hydraulically adjusted.
Roller raised higher
The weight of the roller shifts more onto the weeding tines. The tine pressure increases, and cultivation becomes more intensive.
Roller lowered further
The pressure on the weeding tines is reduced. The machine works more gently.
This allows the Grassland Combi (GK) to be quickly adapted to the sward, soil, and desired cultivation intensity.
The Grassland Combi (GK) 250 and 300 can be divided into weeder and roller without tools.
Combined use in the rear
Weeder and roller work as a compact unit in one pass.
Weeder in front and roller in rear mounting
This division improves weight distribution, as the machine's centers of gravity are closer to the tractor. It is particularly suitable for:
Individual use
The weeder and grassland roller can also be used separately. The roller, for example, can also be used in arable farming.

More InformationIn slit seeding, the seed coulters open narrow slits in the soil. The seeds are precisely placed at a defined depth and then pressed down by the Toothed Roller.
The Grassland Combi (GK) 300 S has 24 individually suspended slit coulters at a row spacing of 12.5 cm. The coulter pressure is hydraulically adjustable and can be up to 70 kg per coulter.
1. Leveling
A strongly spring-loaded leveling bar compensates for molehills and slight unevenness.
2. Weeding
The weeder removes matting and unwanted grasses, aerates the sward, and creates space for new seeds.
3. Open Slit
The 24 slit coulters open the soil up to approx. 3 cm deep. This additionally aerates the soil.
4. Place Seeds
In permanent grassland, the seeds are placed about 1 cm deep, depending on the application. For new installations, placement up to approx. 3 cm is possible.
5. Optionally add Broadcast Seeding
A second seeder applies light germinators, other seeds, fertiliser, or granule superficially.
6. Rolling
The Toothed Roller closes the slits, presses the seeds, and ensures reliable seed-to-soil contact.
The advantages of the APV Grassland Combi with Slit Seeding
The Grassland Combi (GK) 300 S precisely places seeds in the soil with 24 slit coulters, smooths unevenness, weeds out matting and old grasses, and ensures optimal seed-to-soil contact with the rear roller - all in a single pass.
Optionally, you can combine slit seeding and broadcast seeding in one pass. For example, deep germinators can be precisely placed in the soil and light germinators applied superficially.

More InformationFAQ
What is the APV Grassland Combi and which work steps does it combine?
The Grassland Combi (GK) from APV combines several grassland care steps in one pass: Leveling, Weeding, Sowing, and Rolling. This allows the existing plant sward to be cared for, gaps to be specifically reseeded, and the seeds then rolled for good seed-to-soil contact.
What are the advantages of combining several work steps in one pass?
By combining grassland care and reseeding, additional passes can be saved. This reduces time, diesel, and labor, and avoids unnecessary driving over the grassland. At the same time, the individual work steps within the machine are coordinated.
How does the Grassland Combi prepare the sward for reseeding?
First, the leveling bar evens out unevenness and, for example, molehills. Subsequently, the weeding tines cultivate the sward, remove unwanted or dead plant material, and open the sward. After that, the seeds are applied and finally pressed down by the roller.
Can the APV Grassland Combi also be used without reseeding?
Yes. The Grassland Combi can also be used for pure care measures. Due to its modular design, the weeder and roller can be used depending on the application requirements. This means the machine is not exclusively limited to work with simultaneous reseeding.
Can the Grassland Combi be divided or used in front and rear mounting?
Yes. The weeder and roller of the APV Grassland Combi can be separated without tools. This allows for combined use, as well as division into front and rear mounting on the tractor, or separate use of individual components. This can be advantageous, for example, on sloping areas or with smaller tractors.
What are the advantages of the roller for reseeding?
After sowing, the roller presses the applied seeds to the ground. The improved seed-to-soil contact supports water absorption and creates favorable conditions for germination and establishment of the reseeded grasses.
What is the difference between the classic Grassland Combi and the Grassland Combi with Slit Seeding?
With the classic Grassland Combi, the seeds are applied superficially and then rolled. The Grassland Combi with Slit Seeding (GK S), on the other hand, places the seeds precisely in narrow slits in the soil with coulters. Thus, APV offers two different reseeding methods for various sward and application conditions.
How does slit seeding work with the Grassland Combi GK 300 S?
With the GK 300 S, 24 seed coulters at a spacing of 12.5 cm open narrow slits in the sward. The seeds are precisely placed at a depth of about 1 to 3 cm. With up to 70 kg coulter pressure per coulter, uniform seed placement is supported. Subsequently, the rear roller ensures seed-to-soil contact.
When is slit seeding particularly interesting in grassland?
Slit seeding is particularly interesting when seeds are to be specifically placed in the soil. By placing them in narrow slits, the seeds get direct soil contact and are less dependent on the conditions on the soil surface than with pure surface seeding.
Which farms is the APV Grassland Combi suitable for?
The Grassland Combi is particularly suitable for grassland and dairy farms, as well as farms with arable forage areas that want to efficiently combine care and reseeding. Due to different designs and the possibility of classic reseeding or slit seeding, the method can be adapted to various requirements.
Das Problem
A high-performance grassland sward requires regular care. Matting must be removed, gaps closed, and high-quality grasses or legumes safely established. It is crucial that the seeds are placed according to their germination requirements and then receive sufficient seed-to-soil contact.
Die Lösung
The APV Grassland Combi (GK) combines all crucial steps of grassland care in one coordinated system. This prepares the sward, places the seeds as needed, and immediately reconsolidates them.

Technical data are important – but the right configuration is decided in practical use.
