EFFECTIVELY MAINTAIN GRASSLAND.
SUSTAINABLY IMPROVE FORAGE QUALITY.
Remove moss, thatch, and unwanted grasses while aerating the sward. With the Grassland Weeder (GS), you create optimal conditions for a healthy, high-performing grassland sward. In combination with targeted reseeding, you promote valuable forage grasses and sustainably improve the quality of your basic fodder.
Achieve dense grassland
and high-quality basic fodder with the APV Grassland Weeder
The APV Grassland Weeder (GS) helps you sustainably improve patchy, matted, or weakened grassland swards. Two rows of strong tines open the sward and pull out unwanted grasses, matting, and moss. Two additional rows of finer tines separate the soil from the weeded material, create a fine soil fraction, and establish ideal conditions for reseeding.
In combination with an APV Pneumatic Seeder, you can combine leveling, weeding, aerating, and sowing in one pass. This saves time, diesel, and additional field trips – and supports a dense, high-performing plant stand with valuable grasses, legumes, and herbs.

More InformationRemove matting and unwanted grasses
The strong front tines open the sward and remove unwanted grasses, moss, and matted plant material.
Aerate soil and prepare seedbed
The four tine rows loosen the soil surface, separate soil from the weeded material, and create a fine soil fraction for good seed-to-soil contact.
Advantages of the APV Grassland Weeder
The APV Grassland Weeder (GS) was specifically developed for the diverse requirements of grassland care. Its decisive feature is the combination of two rows of strong and two rows of weaker, cranked spring tines.
With the appropriate equipment, you can perform up to four work steps in one pass:
Leveling
Weeding
Aerating
Sowing
This reduces additional trips, saves fuel, and helps prevent soil compaction.
The Principle
The spring-mounted levelling plate first smooths out coarse unevenness and molehills. Guidance via the support wheels ensures smooth and even operation.
Afterward, the two front rows with 10 mm strong tines – optionally 12 mm – open the sward. They pull out unwanted grasses, moss, and matting from the sward, creating free space for high-quality forage plants.
The two rear rows with 8 mm strong tines separate the soil from the weeded material. At the same time, they create a fine soil fraction, lightly work applied seeds into the opened soil, and thus improve seed-to-soil contact.
In combination with a Pneumatic Seeder, the desired reseeding mixture is evenly distributed across the working width.

More InformationThe Advantages of the APV Grassland Weeder
The APV Grassland Weeder (GS) combines intensive grassland care with a particularly well-thought-out tine combination. The strong front tines handle the intensive cultivation. The finer rear tines prepare the soil for reseeding. Together, this creates a weeding pattern that is tailored to the different tasks within a single pass.

Two strong front tine rows
The two front tine rows are equipped with cranked 10 mm round spring tines. Optionally, 12 mm strong tines are available. The aggressiveness of the front tines is adjusted via the support wheels.
Their tasks:
Two finer rear tine rows
The third and fourth rows work with cranked 8 mm round spring tines. The inclination of the 8 mm tines is adjustable in four positions. The total adjustment range is 33° and occurs in 11° increments.
Their tasks:
Correctly adjust tines
For hard and dry soils
Choose a steeper tine setting. This makes the tine work more aggressively and move less strongly backward.
For light and soft soils
Choose a flatter tine setting. This makes the tine work more gently and allows for more freedom of movement.
The setting allows the Grassland Weeder (GS) to be adapted to soil moisture, soil hardness, sward conditions, and desired cultivation intensity.

Improve grassland without tillage
Regular, non-inversion grassland care is an economical and soil-friendly way to improve weakened swards. Instead of breaking up the entire sward, the existing stand is specifically maintained, opened, and reseeded.
This offers several advantages:

More InformationFAQ
What is the APV Grassland Weeder used for?
The Grassland Weeder (GS) from APV is used for the mechanical care of meadows, pastures, and arable forage areas. Weeding removes unwanted plants and dead plant material from the sward, opens the sward, and improves the conditions for targeted reseeding.
What are the advantages of weeding grassland?
Regular weeding, adapted to the sward, can loosen matting, reduce unwanted plants, and open the sward. This provides valuable grasses, legumes, and herbs with better development conditions. In combination with reseeding, existing gaps can be specifically closed with desired forage plants.
How does the APV Grassland Weeder work?
The APV Grassland Weeder works with several tine rows of varying intensity. The front, stronger tines intensively cultivate the sward, while the subsequent tines further process the area. This allows the weeding effect to be adapted to the requirements of grassland care.
Which tines are installed on the APV Grassland Weeder?
The Grassland Weeder features two front rows of stronger round spring tines and two subsequent rows of weaker, cranked round spring tines. The front tines are standard 10 mm strong and optionally available in 12 mm. This gradation allows for intensive cultivation with subsequent finishing.
Can reseeding be done simultaneously with the grassland weeder?
Yes. The APV Grassland Weeder can be combined with a Pneumatic Seeder. This allows grassland care and reseeding to be combined in one pass: the weeder opens and cultivates the sward, while the seeds are evenly distributed over the area.
Why is the combination of weeding and reseeding useful?
Weeding removes unwanted plants and dead material, preparing the sward for reseeding. The subsequently applied seeds can specifically close existing gaps and support the establishment of desired grasses, legumes, or herbs.
How can the working intensity of the grassland weeder be adapted to different swards?
The working intensity should be adapted to sward density, soil moisture, unwanted plant infestation, and the condition of the sward. With the APV Grassland Weeder, the different tine rows and the machine's settings, among other things, support cultivation adapted to the respective conditions.
For which farms is the APV Grassland Weeder suitable?
The Grassland Weeder is suitable for farms that mechanically maintain meadows, pastures, or arable forage areas and wish to preserve or improve their plant stand. It is particularly interesting for grassland and dairy farms that value a dense, high-performing sward and high-quality basic fodder.
Das Problem
High-performing grassland is the basis for high-quality and cost-effective basic fodder. If gaps, matting, and unwanted plants are not regulated in time, sward density, forage quality, and yield decrease. Surface sowing alone is often not enough because the seeds germinate unevenly without open soil and sufficient seed-to-soil contact.
Die Lösung
The APV Grassland Weeder (GS) combines intensive grassland care with a particularly well-thought-out tine combination. The strong front tines handle the intensive cultivation. The finer rear tines prepare the soil for reseeding. Together, this creates a weeding pattern that is tailored to the different tasks within a single pass.
