Constant tine pressure

The tine-spring system ensures even tine pressure across the entire spring travel – even on uneven ground, in furrows and on ridge crops.

Gentle weeding of crops

The tines can not only be preloaded but also lifted. This reduces the pressure down to the tines' own net weight – ideal for sensitive plant stages.

Versatile in use

From vegetable farming and special crops to cereals, soybeans, maize, beets, sunflowers and potato ridges: the Tined Weeder Pro (VS) is suitable for numerous crops.

Advantages of the Tined Weeder Pro

The Principle

The tines of the Tined Weeder Pro (VS) penetrate the soil to a maximum depth of 2–3 cm while weeding. This breaks up and loosens the topmost soil crust. Soil aeration is improved and capillary action is interrupted.

The main task is the mechanical reduction of weeds. As the tines sweep across the ground, weeds in the thread or germination stage are covered with soil, torn out, or deposited on the soil surface, where they dry out.

The tine-spring system allows very fine adjustment of the tine pressure. This is especially important when sensitive crops need to be protected while young weeds are reliably controlled at the same time.

Tine-spring package

Its particular strength lies in the fact that each tine is individually guided and has its own spring package. This keeps the tine pressure constant over the entire spring travel.

Unlike conventional weeder systems, the tine can not only be preloaded but also lifted. The tine pressure can be infinitely reduced down to zero. This enables weeding even in sensitive crop stages, where conventional systems often have to pause.

The hydraulic tine pressure adjustment is a key comfort feature. Using a clearly visible scale, the desired pressure can be easily set and adapted to the crop, soil and timing of use.

Making better use of sensitive crop stages

With the Tined Weeder Pro (VS), the tine pressure can be reduced down to the net weight of the tine. This makes weeding possible even in sensitive plant stages.

In practice, this means a wider application window. Instead of pausing weeding during sensitive phases, the work intensity can be finely reduced. This keeps the crop protected while mechanical weed control can still continue.

Features of the
tine-spring system

The tine-spring system is the central feature of the APV Tined Weeder Pro (VS). Each individual tine has its own spring package. This means pressure is controlled not just via the machine, but directly at each individual tool.

The system ensures that the tine pressure remains consistent even with varying tine levels. On level ground, in wheel tracks, on ridge crests, ridge flanks or in furrows, the tine works with even pressure.

Another advantage: the tine is pivot-mounted in the frame. This means it can only deflect backward and upward – not to the left or right. This supports a precise weeding result and prevents sideways deflection on uneven ground, in furrows or on ridge crops.

Making better use of sensitive crop stages

In practice, this means a wider application window. Instead of pausing weeding during sensitive phases, the work intensity can be finely reduced. This keeps the crop protected while mechanical weed control can still continue.

The individually suspended tines make it possible to pay closer attention to weeds at the time of weeding. If the known weeds are already visible in the soil at the thread stage, the next weeding pass should follow soon. If the crop currently only allows for very cautious treatment, the Tined Weeder Pro is the best option. This means crops can be weeded very easily even before emergence, and depending on the crop, weeding can also take place during or after emergence, right up to the stem elongation stage, where unwanted weeds can still be combed out. This is what makes the Tined Weeder Pro so versatile.

Areas of application

  • Mechanical weed control | breaking up soil crust | soil aeration
  • Reducing weeds at the thread and germination stage
  • Ridge crops, e.g. potato ridges
  • Weeding cereal crops such as wheat, spelt, rye and oats, as well as rice
  • Weeding row crops such as soybeans, maize, beets, sunflowers
  • Special crops such as milk thistle, poppy, peanuts, as well as vegetable farming
  • Organic arable farming & conventional arable farming as a complement to or reduction of chemical measures

FAQ

What is a Tined Weeder Pro and what is it used for?

The APV Tined Weeder Pro (VS) is used for mechanical weed control and crop care. Its sprung tines work the soil surface, uproot or bury young weeds, and can simultaneously break up soil crusting. The special spring-tine system allows the work intensity to be precisely adjusted to different conditions.

What distinguishes the Tined Weeder Pro from a classic tined weeder?

With the APV Tined Weeder Pro, each tine is pre-tensioned via a special spring-tine system. This ensures that the set tine pressure remains largely constant even on uneven ground. This enables particularly uniform and precise crop care – even under varying soil conditions.

How can the tine pressure be adjusted on the APV Tined Weeder Pro?

The tine pressure can be adapted to the respective crop, its development stage, and the soil conditions. The spring-tine system then ensures that the set pressure is maintained as constantly as possible across the tine's range of motion.

Is the Tined Weeder Pro also suitable for sensitive or young crops?

Thanks to the precise adjustment of the tine pressure, the APV Tined Weeder Pro can be finely adapted to different crops and development stages. The key factors here are the correct machine configuration as well as suitable soil, crop, and weather conditions.

Can individual tines of the Tined Weeder Pro be lifted?

Yes. Individual tines can be lifted if required. This is helpful, for example, if certain areas of a crop should not be processed or if the machine needs to be adapted to specific row and application conditions.

How do the tines of the Tined Weeder Pro adapt to uneven ground?

The tines are individually sprung and pivot-mounted. This allows them to follow the soil surface and avoid lateral loads. In combination with the spring-tine system, this supports the most uniform processing possible, even on uneven surfaces.

What working widths are available for the APV Tined Weeder Pro?

The APV Tined Weeder Pro is available in various working widths from 3 to 16.3 meters. This means variants are available for different farm sizes and area performance requirements.

What advantages does ISOBUS control offer for the Tined Weeder Pro?

On appropriately equipped models, ISOBUS enables central operation via the tractor terminal. In conjunction with the hydraulic machine control, functions such as Section Control and Rate Control can be used. The integration of AUX-N control elements is also possible, facilitating operation under changing conditions.

Das Problem
  • Weed pressure often arises very early and must be controlled in good time.
  • Uneven surfaces, tracks, ridges, and furrows change the tine pressure.
  • Uneven surfaces lead to inconsistent tool pressure.
  • Sensitive crop stages often shorten the available weeding window.
  • Different working intensities for different crops
  • Large areas and short application windows require powerful technology.

In mechanical crop care, the right setting determines success. Too little pressure results in insufficient effect against weeds. Too much pressure can damage the crop. It becomes particularly challenging with changing soil conditions, ridge crops, sensitive plant stages, or crops with narrow row spacing.

Die Lösung
  • The spring-tine system keeps the tine pressure constant.
  • Each tine has its own spring package.
  • The tines can be pre-tensioned and lifted.
  • The tine pressure is hydraulic and infinitely variable.
  • The tines only deflect backwards and upwards – not sideways.
  • The crop is protected by the high clearance.
  • The Tined Weeder Pro (VS) extends the application window in crop care.

The APV Tined Weeder Pro (VS) was developed for particularly precise and crop-friendly mechanical weed control. Thanks to the spring-tine system, the pressure remains uniform even at different tine levels. This allows the Tined Weeder Pro (VS) to be used in ridge crops such as potatoes – with identical tine pressure on the ridge crown, ridge flanks, and in the furrow.
