More Information
Precise spreading instead of excessive spreading
Working width and spread rate can be precisely adjusted to the respective application. The Universal Dispenser (UDW) also enables particularly accurate metering via its Flex metering shaft.
For small areas up to professional winter service
The Winter Service Spreader (WD) 40 is suitable for sidewalks, parking lots, and smaller areas. With hopper volumes of 105 or 250 liters, the Universal Dispensers (UDW) are designed for larger and professional applications.
Two systems for different requirements
The Winter Service Spreader (WD) 40 is the compact solution for small areas. Its spread rate is adjusted via a metering slide, and the spreading material is then distributed via an electrically driven spreading disc.
The Universal Dispenser (UDW), on the other hand, meters the spreading material via an electrically controlled Flex metering shaft. A stainless steel metering unit and a chain-driven agitator make it the professional solution for salt, fine-grained grit up to 5 mm, and corresponding mixtures.

Winter Service Spreader (WD)
Compact and Flexible
How the APV Winter Service Spreader works!
With the Winter Service Spreader (WD), the fine spreading material reaches the electrically driven spreading disc via an adjustable metering slide. This distributes the material over the desired working width.
The electronic Control system allows for comfortable adjustment of the spreading width from the driver's seat.
The Winter Service Spreader (WD) 40 was specially developed for private and small-scale applications. With its 40-liter hopper and compact design, it is particularly suitable for icy sidewalks, parking lots, courtyards, and other small areas.
Thanks to various mounting options, it can be used, for example, on a quad or with a towing hitch. The working width can be conveniently adjusted from the driver's seat.
What spreading material can be applied?
- dry, fine salt
- de-icing agents
In addition, APV names applications for the Winter Service Spreader such as lawn seeding, fertiliser, slug pellets, and other suitable granules outside the winter season.
How is the APV Winter Service Spreader operated?
Control Terminal 1.2
The solid foundation for the essential functions
The compact Control Box 1.2 offers all the essential basic functions for reliable operation of an APV seeder. The seeding shaft and electric fan can be easily controlled and monitored electronically. Selected sensors can also be integrated – ideal for users looking for straightforward, functional control.
Functions
Control Box 5.2
The Control Box 5.2 extends the basic functions with numerous automations. The spread rate can be automatically adapted to the driving speed, the metering at the headland can be controlled and the calibration test can be carried out conveniently. Thus, the module combines extensive functions with proven operation.

Universal Dispenser (UDW)
How APV's Universal Dispenser works
With the Universal Dispenser (UDW), the spreading material is not just released via a slider, but actively metered via the Flex metering shaft.
The chain-driven agitator keeps the material in motion. The metering shaft then precisely feeds the set quantity to the spreading disc. This allows both small and large quantities to be reliably applied.
With appropriate sensors, the spread rate can also be adjusted to the driving speed using the Control Box 5.2.
The Universal Dispenser (UDW) was developed for higher demands in professional winter service. At its heart is the metering unit, made entirely of stainless steel, with an electrically controlled Flex metering shaft.
Unlike the simple metering slide of the Winter Service Spreader, the material is actively and precisely metered. The chain-driven agitator supports a reliable material supply. Subsequently, the electrically driven spreading disc with four adjustable throwing vanes takes over the distribution.
What spreading material can be applied?
- dry, fine salt
- fine-grained grit up to max. 5 mm
- mixtures of salt and grit
- corrosive spreading materials such as suitable fertilisers
Salt and grit can be changed or applied as a mixture with the Universal Dispenser without conversion.

More InformationFAQ
What are APV Winter Service Spreaders used for?
APV Winter Service Spreaders are designed for applying spreading materials on roads, paths, parking lots, operational areas, and other traffic areas. Depending on the model, various spreading materials can be used for professional winter service.
What spreading materials can be applied with an APV Winter Service Spreader?
Depending on the model and equipment, APV Winter Service Spreaders can be used for various free-flowing spreading materials. These include typical materials for winter service such as salt, grit, or suitable spreading mixtures. The suitability of the respective spreading material should be considered according to the device configuration.
What is the difference between a WD and a UDW Winter Service Spreader from APV?
APV Winter Service Spreaders differ in terms of design, hopper volume, equipment, and intended application area. This provides solutions for various requirements – from compact winter service applications to the regular maintenance of larger traffic and operational areas.
How is the spread rate adjusted on the APV Winter Service Spreader?
The desired spread rate is set via the metering of the respective spreader. This allows the applied quantity of spreading material to be adjusted to the spreading material, driving speed, and operating conditions, and the spreading material to be used as needed.
Can the spreading width be adjusted on the APV Winter Service Spreader?
Yes. The spreading width can be adjusted to the respective application area depending on the model and equipment. This allows the spreading material to be precisely distributed over the desired working width and unnecessary spreading outside the traffic area to be reduced.
Which vehicles are APV Winter Service Spreaders suitable for?
Depending on the model, the Winter Service Spreaders can be combined with different carrier vehicles. This makes them suitable, for example, for use in agriculture, municipal technology, by service providers, or on company-owned traffic areas.
Can an APV Winter Service Spreader also be used outside of winter service?
Whether use outside of winter service is possible and sensible depends on the respective model, the spreading material used, and the equipment. It is crucial that the material is suitable for the metering and spreading system of the respective device.
Who are APV Winter Service Spreaders particularly suitable for?
The Winter Service Spreaders are suitable for agricultural businesses, municipalities, service providers, and companies that want to reliably keep roads, paths, parking lots, or operational areas free of winter slipperiness and apply spreading materials precisely metered.
Das Problem
Slipperiness can make paths, parking lots, and operational areas unsafe within a short time. At the same time, salt should not be applied in unnecessarily high doses. Different surface sizes, varying driving speeds, and different spreading materials place additional demands on spreading technology.
Especially in professional winter service, therefore, controllable working width, precise metering, and a reliable spreading material supply are crucial.
Die Lösung
APV offers two coordinated concepts for different requirements:
The Winter Service Spreader (WD) 40 is the compact solution for small areas. Its spread rate is adjusted via a metering slide, and the spreading material is then distributed via an electrically driven spreading disc.
The Universal Dispenser (UDW), on the other hand, meters the spreading material via an electrically controlled Flex metering shaft. A stainless steel metering unit and a chain-driven agitator make it the professional solution for salt, fine-grained grit up to 5 mm, and corresponding mixtures. APV
